Copenhagen Fashion Week: The trailblazer of fashion events

Scandinavia’s biggest fashion week is back and we’re officially excited. Not only are we Copenhagen Fashion Week’s (CPHFW) official car partner for the third year in a row, but we’re inspired by the power of change that characterises CPHFW. Let’s get stuck in.

I think our relationship with Polestar particularly underlines the potential of cross-pollination between the different industries as there is so much we can continue to learn from one another.
Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO Copenhagen Fashion Week

Last week, the world’s most progressive labels and cutting-edge brands gathered in the Danish fashion capital for Copenhagen Fashion Week. Constantly one step ahead, the garment industry met to peak into the near future of fashion.

This year, the Spring / Summer 2025 edition gathered some of the most innovative Nordic and international design talent, showcasing everything from student designs from the Swedish School of Textile in Borås (our partners on interior materials for Polestar 4) to new material from the renowned design houses like Finnish Marimekko.

So far it has all the elements of a festive fashion-first fiesta, but CPHFW isn’t your typical fashion week. Beyond inviting guests to a week filled with inspiration, CPHFW is known for its commitment to sustainability. Under CEO Cecilie Thorsmark, the organisation has put a rigorous sustainability action plan into motion. Adopted in 2020, the 19-point plan aims to promote long-term change within the industry by introducing sustainability requirements for all brands participating in the event.

“Our sustainability guidelines influenced our way of working with brands to a great extent where we now talk to brand representatives such as the sustainability or buying teams which we weren’t in much contact with before, meaning we’re getting closer insights on the day-to-day operations of brands alongside supporting brands through various knowledge sharing activities.” said Cecilie in a panel talk held in Polestar Space in Copenhagen earlier this year. “Within the coming months, we’re launching our first revision of the Sustainability Requirements, where we have raised the bar on the requirements to keep pushing change within the operations of the CPHFW brands.”

Other countries are now following the Danish trailblazer of fashion weeks, with the Norwegian Fashion Hub and the German Fashion Council adopting the framework set out by CPHFW. As of 2024, Norway’s counterpart, Oslo Runway, will implement CPHFW sustainability requirements, as will Berlin Fashion Week, hoping that more will follow.

Ahead of fashion week, the CPHFW CEO highlighted community and cross-industry collaboration as key features of this year’s event. “I think our relationship with Polestar particularly underlines the potential of cross-pollination between the different industries as there is so much we can continue to learn from one another,” said Cecilie.

Proud to be the official car partner of CPHFW for the third year in a row, we made sure Cecilie and other guests could ride in our newest designs and styles.

Riding in style

As the fashion models took to the runways, our car model line-up took to the streets, offering guests an electric experience in between shows. Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 confidently drove down the familiar streets of Copenhagen’s city centre, while Polestar 4 made its debut on Danish roads.

As CEO, Cecilie’s schedule during CPHFW can only be described as hectic with 10-12 shows to attend each day. A Polestar 3 would swiftly and stylishly take Cecilie from one show to another throughout the day. Accompanied by Fashion Forum’s Editior-in-Chief Carla Christine Bruus Aagaard-Strube on her way to the OpéraSport show, the two fashion connoisseurs got to talking about sustainable action, and emerging talent.

Cecilie tells Carla that she’s most excited about the fruits of CPHFW new talents scheme. The CPHFW NEWTALENT support scheme is on its third seasons of developing and promoting emerging Nordic talent by giving them a world stage, mentorship and partnership offerings. Emerging talent to keep an eye on is Berner Kühl, Alectra Rothschild / Masculina, Stamm and Rolf Ekroth.

Carla also caught up with multi-disciplinary designer Fatima Fransson on her way to a show. Fatima is a Copenhagen and Stockholm-based designer working with set design, furniture design, and other objects for fashion and design forums. With an international client base and reputation, Fatima is known for her use of vibrant colours and innovative materials.

In collaboration with Samsøe Samsøe, Fatima has designed a pop-up coffee shop. The installation consists of a large table with 30 chairs draped in upcycled denim jeans from the Danish fashion brand. The installation sits at the intersection between sustainability, fashion, and art, and is open to the public during Copenhagen Fashion Week.

With more than 40 runway shows to choose from, Fatima tells Carla that she’s most excited to see (di)vision’s creations for S/S 2025, whose “Tablecloth dress” went viral last year. Watch the viral clip here on (di)vison’s Instagram.

Beyond the Road: Stan Gorton

We’re back again with the sixth installation of Polestar’s Beyond the Road content series, where we meet Polestar owners from all around the world. For this episode, we head down under to Australia to meet Stan Gorton, a journalist and environmentalist who lives on the aptly named Kangaroo Island: a small, picturesque haven off the coast of South Australia. With his four-legged friend Twiggy by his side, we get an insight into what life is like going 100% electric in this remote part of the world.
