The front of the car’s body is designed to absorb energy in the event of a head-on collision, as an engine would in an internal combustion engine car. This helps to reduce the risk of injury to the passengers, as well as battery pack deformation.
Pioneered by the Volvo Car Group, side airbags have led to a major improvement in impact protection. The Polestar 2 features the latest version of these airbags, complementary to the regular ones. Integrated into the inner sides of the front seat backrests, they offer individual protection to the driver and the front passenger, reducing the risk of injury when the car is hit from the side.
